30 Hour Famine - May 9 & 10 - SEE SPECIAL REQUEST BELOW

Student Ministries is participating for the 4th consecutive year in the 30 Hour Famine...the Jr. & Sr. High students participating ask for financial contributions for going without food for 30 hours. All proceeds donated to the World Vision organization. Show up at the church office at 6pm, for a fun photo scavenger hunt. We will then be back at the church office for a couple of hours for some worship and a lesson. We will then be off to a couple of houses to sleep and up early to do some service projects. We will break the fast at 1pm at the Stupienski's, 24 Twilight Dr in Granby. Students can be picked up from there at 1:30pm. If you have any questions, feel free to call Mark at 860-906-4882.

Please bring a sleeping bag, any extra clothing you need and a rake.

SPECIAL REQUEST - NEED TO BORROW LAWN EQUIPMENT
If you have a lawn mower and/or weed eater that Student Ministries can borrow for a service project on Saturday, May 10 please contact Mark Allen ASAP by e-mail or in the church office at 844-0001. Mark is looking for more than one if possible! A big part of the 30-Hour Famine involves service work including helping a 91 year old woman in the community with yard clean up on Saturday. But, she does not own a lawn mower. The students have helped her in prior years and are looking forward to serving her again this year!
**Mark is also asking all student participating to bring a rake for the yard work on Saturday**

Our Message to Youth

Element_907a.jpg

At Valley Brook, we take teens seriously. They have gifts and are capable of just about anything. We strongly believe that they are the church of TODAY, not tomorrow. We understand they are growing up in a culture that bombards them with messages. Every time they turn on the TV, surf the net, put on headphones, and look at magazines, they are being sold images and messages - some of which are harmless, but almost none have the student's best interest in mind.

Our message to teens at Valley Brook is this:

You are important; You matter; You are the star of the show; You don't have to wait to have a relationship with God; You don't have to wait to make a difference.

God is real, relevant, and right up your alley. He loves you. He wants you to be part of His family. He has big plans for your life. That is a message that can make a difference in the life of a teenager. To be loved and taken seriously.

Our message of Hope . . .

We provide a safe place to begin the journey towards a relationship with God. To learn about Him, to become part of His family. We have programs and people just for teenagers. We know that getting through these years has never been harder, so we have committed to being a positive message amidst the daily bombardment. We are committed to making this a safe place for any teenager, religious or not, because we feel if you really begin to grasp the message of hope and love that is God, it will change you.

You can get started on your journey, or just come to hang out with some friends. Everyone is welcome, and everyone is valued for who they are!

For more information or to discuss anything regarding our youth programs, contact Mark Allen, our Student Ministries Director, at mallen@valleybrookcommunity.org.

Sunday School

We provide the opportunity for our students in grades 7-12 to attend a Sunday School class following the musical part of our worship services.  Classes are broken into two groups: Middle School (grades 7-8), and High School (grades 9-12).  The Sunday School classes provide Bible study, teaching and discussion to help students apply God's Word to their lives.  On the first Sunday of the month, these students remain in church for the entire service and are invited to participate in Communion.
