DAVID: A Real Person Who Desired to Follow God
SUNDAYS at 9:30AM
This summer we invite you to study the life of David with us. He was a shepherd and a leader; a servant and a king; a warrior and a musician; a follower of God and a sinner. Some might ask why we should look at David and his life. The answer is clear, because David is a real person who desired to follow God. Join us as we explore David's intimate relationship with God and discover insights and applications for your life today.

DAVID SERIES: ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
As a response to the August 10th message, Our Way or the High Way, Pastor Clark suggested taking some time to reflect on the following scripture verses:
ROMANS 8:5-8, NIV
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God
GALATIANS 5:13-25, NIV
You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
SUGGESTED READING:
1 & 2 Samuel: These two books chronicle the life and history of David, the shepherd boy who became king. The first 16 chapters of 1 Samuel are not directly about David, but will give you an understanding about why God chose David to be king. As you read these books ask God for insights and applications for your life.
