Our Core Values

Element_586a.jpg
1) We believe that Jesus is the Lord of all and we must submit our entire life to Him.

2) We believe God wants the church to be a biblically-functioning community.
(Acts 2:42-47)

3) We believe to become a biblically-functioning community we must trust the Holy Spirit to lead and instruct us through the individual and corporate study of God's word. (Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)

4) We believe lost people matter to God, therefore we will do whatever it takes to reach them for Christ. (Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

5) We believe the church must relentlessly pursue the Lord and His will through prayer. (Matthew 7:7-8; Luke 18:1-8; John 16:24; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Hebrews 4:16)

6) We believe we must clearly and authentically share God's unconditional love and acceptance in all of our relationships, so that relational and spiritual growth may happen. (Matthew 22:37-40; Romans 12:9-21; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Ephesians 4:15; 25-26; 32; 1 John 4:7-12)

7) We believe Jesus gifted us with the church to be His body; and as His body we must work in unity as His servants, who are called in His name and equipped with spiritual gifts to do ministry. (Matthew 25:31-46; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12:4-20;
Ephesians 4:11-16)

8) We believe we must be culturally relevant as we share the Gospel, but remain doctrinally pure. (Acts 10:1-48; I Corinthians 9:19-23)

9) We believe everything we possess comes from the Lord and we will take care of it, and manage it in a way that honors Him. (Psalm 139:13-14; Matthew 25:14-30;
2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

Our History

After 13 years of pastoring established churches, Pastor Clark recognized that one of the most effective ways to help people come to faith was through starting new churches.  As he prayed about this, God gave him a vision for starting a church that would help people know and grow with God through faith in Jesus Christ.  At that same time, Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, Connecticut - having also decided that the best way to reach people for Christ was through starting new churches - contacted Pastor Clark about starting their first "daughter" church.

Partnering together, Pastor Clark and his family moved to Granby in 1999, and Valley Brook Community Church opened in September 2000.  The church outgrew the elementary school they were renting and in 2002 moved to the Granby Memorial High School for their Sunday morning services.

With a current attendance over 300, Valley Brook is prayerfully making plans to construct a building on their property located on Route 10 in Granby.
